Rockport Challenge: Summer Friday Style

The first time I ever stepped into a pair Rockport of shoes was in the summer of 2014. I was in awe of how comfortable they were.

The first time I decided to wear a pair to work I thought, "Surely this cloud feeling can't last. I bet by noon I'll be in pain." Well, lunch time came and went and I still felt great. Then before I knew it I was driving home and my feet felt as supported and free as they did at 7:30am. Rockport shoes are the real deal.

Fast forward two years and I now have eight pairs of Rockport shoes - three wedges, three flats, a pair of leather ankle booties and a pair of snow boots. Needless to say, I'm a believer.

As you know, I've been participating in the Rockport Challenge for the past two years. I've styled looks for wedding season, holiday season, surviving a 12 hour work day, jazzing things up with animal print, stomping divots at a polo match and embracing spring with sandals. This month's Rockport Challenge is all about summer Friday fashion. I am very lucky that my office closes at 3:00pm every Friday between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend. Just having those extra three hours each Friday makes the weekend feel twice as long.

Lately I've been using those bonus hours to take Scout on long walks around Fresh Pond Reservation in Cambridge. This Friday I am super excited to cross one of my 2016 new year's resolutions off the list by visiting the International Sand Sculpting Festival in Revere, MA. To help me enjoy my summer Fridays in style, Rockport sent a pair of their Total Motion Taja Slides. The package also came with a mint green Sip water bottle and an iTunes gift card so I can download some new music for the car. I don't know about you, but I've been car dancing to Justin Timberlake's "Can't Stop the Feeling" for the past month.

I love the Taja Slides because they feel like a dressed up flip flop. You can still be comfortable and casual, without wearing something like an Old Navy flip flop. That one step up in the dressy factor makes these totally appropriate for work.

The black leather goes with everything and I really love the white stitch detailing.

The best part? The cork wedge adds height (2.75 inches to be exact) but it won't have you wobbling on grass or sand.

I am 100 percent planning to wear these this Friday when I head to the Sand Sculpting Festival. I've already been brainstorming my outfit, head to toe. This Ringer t-shirt dress reminds me of a beach cover up, but is definitely work appropriate. I'll pack a jean jacket in case it's colder by the water and I'll tote around my camera and a notebook to jot down any facts about the artists I meet. Yes, I still use a pen and paper. I can easily kick off the Taja Slides once I reach the beach and slip them back on when it's time to head home.

While there are tons of Summer Fridays where I hop in the car and chase the next adventure, sometimes I just drive straight to the most important thing in the world - ice cream. On those oppressively hot summer Fridays it's all about staying cool in breathable shorts and a loose-fitting tops.

How cute is this little white crossbody bag by Cynthia Rowley? You can check out all the pieces (even the key chain) on Polyvore.

I can't wait to debut my new Taja Slides on Friday. If you're interested in this pair, they happen to be on mega sale right now. Rockport is currently running their end of season sale and many styles are an additional 25% off. Ding, ding, ding . . . jackpot!

Happy shopping, shoe lovers!
