Explore: Kenneth Paul Block Illustrations at the MFA

My aunt is in town from Jerusalem and each time she visits Boston I try to take her somewhere new or to a place we've never been to before together. One of the places we love to explore together is the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA). The exhibits are always changing and seem to get more and more impressive every year.

In the weeks leading up to her trip I read in the Improper Bostonian about a fashion illustration exhibit showcasing the work of Kenneth Paul Block. He was best known for his recurring work for Women's Wear Daily and W Magazine. Before there was ever the E! Red Carpet or Fashion Police, there was the work of Kenneth Paul Block.

His illustrations are on display in the Clementine Brown Gallery, which is very close to the gift shop, the cafe and the modern art wing.

One of the first drawings I noticed was black and white, featuring women in very elaborate winter coats. These are definitely ladies who lunch.

These bright sketches look very much like the fashion illustrations you see all over Instagram these days.

I loved this one with with strategically placed pastel colors.

This photo (below) is the one I saw in the Improper Bostonian that made we want to come in and see the exhibit.

How pretty is this pink and orange pop of color set against this black dress?

This next sketch is too chic for words. The trench, the blue sunglasses, the red lip - it's perfection.

One of the last drawings I walked by was of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. It was fun to see Block's take on one of America's most famous women.

After we walked through the whole gallery, we hoped to head into another fashion exhibit called #techstyle. It turned out the exhibit wasn't opening until the next day. We were super bummed.

That night there was a gala to celebrate #techstyle and one of my blogger friends attended. Check out her recap which includes many photos of the awesome, tech-savvy works.

If you are interested in seeing either of these fashion exhibits, the Kenneth Paul Block illustrations are on display through August 16, 2016 and #techstyle is open through July 10, 2016.
