The Mindy Project: Forgive Me Father

Yesterday I was having . . . a day. I had back to back client meetings all over suburbia, headed back to Kendall Square for the late afternoon, left the office to discover it was raining, and then arrived at Harvard Square to see that my next bus wasn't coming for another 20 minutes. Not ideal.

Despite the crazy day, I smiled knowing that when I finally got home, I would cozy up to a new episode of "The Mindy Project." I was also excited to see the Stephen Colbert guest spot that Mindy has been posting about for weeks.

This week's episode was called "Confessions of a Catho-holic." In the opening scene, Danny is confessing his sins to his childhood priest. He admits to having pre-marital sex with Mindy and says, "This accidentally happened a couple hundred times and then the Lord finally punished us with the precious gift of life." Upon hearing this news, the priest drops dead.

The parish replaces the deceased priest with a guy Danny grew up with, Michael O'Donnell (Colbert). Determined to win him over, Mindy invites Father Michael to their place for dinner via text message. Their resulting emoji conversation had me laughing so hard. It's hilarious to hear someone say "emoji" out loud, the way it used to be funny when someone said "hashtag" out loud.

While over their apartment for dinner, Father O'Donnell quizzes Mindy on her favorite parts of the new testament. She shouts across the table, "There's a sequel to the bible, but not to Gone Girl?"

The most bizarre moment of the episode was definitely Father O'Donnell singing "Walkin' in Memphis" while peeing. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall in the writer's room when that idea to came to life.

Every week I seem to lust after at least one of Mindy's clothing items, and this week it's the Diane Von Furstenberg heart sweater she was wearing at dinner. Swoon.

What did you think of this week's episode? Are you getting used to the pregnancy story line?
