Grey's Anatomy: This Is Not Just

Last night's episode of "Grey's Anatomy" was called "All I Could Do Was Cry." I don't know about you, but for the first eight minutes of the episode, I couldn't hear any of the dialogue. I could hear the music and the sound of machines beeping, but I didn't have any audio for the conversation Dr. Herman had with Avery and Kepner right at the beginning. Was it just my DVR being funky, or did other people have the same issue?

Before she can perform the induction, Dr. Herman asks Kepner and Avery to sign both a birth certificate and a death certificate. I can't even imagine what it would feel like to be forced to do that.

In order to fill in the birth certificate, they have to agree on a name. April says, "Anderson? I hate last names as a first name," to which Jackson fires back, "Hey! I have a last name as a first name!" I think that was probably their one moment of levity.

April winds up being completely freaked out and runs from the procedure. Jackson decides to head to the chapel. If you've been watching the show from the beginning, you know Jackson doesn't believe in God. Well, in that chapel he sat down, he put his hands together and he pleaded, "Show up for her. Please. Show up for April. She loves you. She needs you. Please. Show up for her! Please."

Meanwhile, Kepner is down in the ER trying to distract herself. She winds up meeting a woman whose fiancé had died the night before. The woman starts talking about how she can't go home. She can't accept that the life they were planning together and the future she thought they had is now all of a sudden over. In that moment, Kepner decides she is ready to let the baby go.

Dr. Herman delivers the baby and hands him to Kepner and Jackson. Now, for some reason, my sound cut out again when the minister was there to bless the baby. Maybe that scene didn't have any sound?

The secondary story line tonight was about a patient named Brenda. She came in after being accidentally shot in the neck with a pellet gun by her husband, only to find out she was in labor. She had no idea she was pregnant. Bailey and Callie became insistent that they must save her so she can hold her miracle baby.

In the final scene of the episode, She Shepard is in the chapel and Owen joins her. She is staring straight ahead at the candles and says, "My baby lived for 43 minutes." Well, I had no idea was ever pregnant or had lost a child. The surprises just keep coming with that one. Including, a surprising move by Owen - reaching over and taking her hand. Is this foreshadowing for a new romance? I hope not.

In previews for next week, it seems Meredith told everyone she was jetting to D.C. to visit Derek, when in fact, he called all weekend asking if anyone had heard from her. I'm intrigued!
