Those who have been reading this blog for a long time know I am a huge fan of Anna's Taqueria. I've talked about their famous burritos, attended their Celebrity Burrito Roller Showdown and helped spread the word about their Walqueria to support charity. Last night, we took our relationship to the next level when Anna's let me in on a little secret . . . their off menu nachos.
That's right people, Anna's makes nachos! Feast your eyes:
When we placed our nacho request the man behind the counter paused and then slowly smiled as if to say, "Ohhhh, you know about that, do you?"
The Anna's crew makes the nachos just the same way they make your burrito, they melt the cheese and then they ask what toppings you'd like to add. We picked black beans, guacamole, sour cream, salsa and jalapeño peppers.
Every single component of our nacho platter was super fresh. Don't worry, I didn't cheat on my usual veggie burrito, I ordered that for after we housed the nachos.
In addition to trying the secret nachos, I also got to taste two of Anna's specialty drinks. On the left you have the horchata (my fave!) and on the right you have the Jamaica.
Horchata, a Spanish drink that tastes like a cross between coffee and a milkshake, is always delicious and the Anna's version is creamy without feeling too rich. I love the hint of cinnamon. It almost tasted like a blended holiday cookie.
The Jamaica is made from hibiscus so if you like teas or wines with floral notes, you'll love this. A tall, ice cold glass would be perfect on a hot day.
So the next time you head into Anna's, instead of ordering up your usual burrito or quesadilla, give the nachos a whirl. You'll be oh so happy you did.
