Grey's Anatomy: Oh Baby

Tonight's episode of Grey's Anatomy was all about babies.

Jackson and Kepner had their 10 week ultra sound. I'm so happy they are both excited about this baby now, instead of fighting over religion. That was an irritating two episodes.

This hour Callie and Arizona learned having a second baby would not be as easy for them as they hoped. After the accident, Callie developed adhesions that will not allow her to carry a baby. After a tearful moment together, they decide a life with just one child will be enough.

At the hospital, Shane and Arizona are treating a baby whose organs are outside of his body (eeek!). Shane is supposed to be keeping a careful watch on him, but he pops the casing meant to heal his organs. I have to admit, that moment made me a bit squeamish.

Alex returned to the pediatric unit pretending to check on his former patient. He used that relationship to poach the surgery away from Arizona. When Shane tried to intervene Alex shouted, "I worked with her for years. You went nuts and killed my dad. Who is she going to believe?"

I did see signs of the old, fun, high energy Arizona tonight. Like when she chirped to Shane, "Keep an eye on all the tiny humans. It should be a quiet and adorable day."

The main patient story tonight revolved around Brayden, the boy with no immune system. After Bailey snuck him her experimental treatment, she decided to come clean to his parents. They responded with assault and battery charges.

When Brayden's father makes it clear he plans to ruin Dr. Bailey's life, Stephanie steps forward and takes the blame. I love the scene where Bailey wells up and just grabs her for a long, appreciative hug.

After a rather grotesque day with a rectal cancer patient, Murphy helps the Chief put in a "magnetic butt hole." How glamorous. Murphy is feeling great after her creative treatment suggestion, but the Chief lets her go. Poor Murphy.

All episode long, Owen forced Cristina to interview candidates for the head of cardio. When one surgeon says his goal is to win a Harper Avery, Cristina launches into one of her best monologues of the season. Equal parts snark and sting.

At the close of the hour, Owen checks in with her about who she wants to choose. When he tries to offer Cristina the job, she stops him. He then says, "Ok, but I will ask you something else. Don't go. Don't leave me." Oh man! Of course now that they aren't married anymore they have more passion than ever.

In the final scene of the episode Derek comes home to tell Meredith he's been offered a job at the NIH and they've guaranteed a spot for her at James Madison hospital too. Is our original crew all going to move on?

Did you notice that tonight there was yet another cover song? This time "Tainted love."

In previews for next week it looks like there is some kind of major trauma coming into the ER. The text than ran across the screen said, "The goodbye you never expected."

Dear Shonda Rhimes, I beg of you, please do not kill Cristina.
