Grey's Anatomy: What's The Point?

Last night's episode of Grey's Anatomy opened with another strange cover song. This time, "Blister In The Sun." I have been complaining about this for weeks now. I hate the new direction they've taken with the music on the show. Grey's used to make songs wildly popular and now it showcases bizarre covers songs only. Did you catch the one at the end of the hour? A stripped down version of "We Built This City."

There were two major bombs dropped this week: Kepner is pregnant and Cristina did actually win the Harper Avery Award.

Let's start with Kepner. She and Jackson have been fighting for the last few episodes and now it seems they will have to come back together to raise their child. This will be interesting!

On the Harper Avery Award, I have to say, Catherine Avery is evil. How could she admit that Cristina won and not even care? So the Foundation owns the hospital, that doesn't mean her work shouldn't be recognized.

The scene where the Chief admits to Catherine that he was going to propose was pretty heartbreaking.

Also heartbreaking, Cristina having to ask the parents of her two heart patients to choose which of their daughters should get the heart transplant. That scene where she is standing in the shower and just looks at Owen and says, "What's the point? What's the point of anything?" So sad.

Meanwhile, Derek organizes a surgery date for him and Meredith so they can spend time together. He even says he'll wear his ferry boat scrub cap. This scene reminded me of the very first season.

Also on the couple front, Alex and Jo celebrate Alex's new job in a private practice. I wonder if this will mean less screen time for Alex . . .

In previews for next week's episode, Dr. Burke returns! I cannot wait to see what happens when he and Cristina are in the same room again.

Do you think sparks will fly again?
