This weekend my aunt, uncle and cousins were in Boston, visiting us all the way from Israel. We had planned to spend the day together Saturday and they asked me to look into what cool or fun events might be happening downtown. Most of the city's events were centered around Easter, but I did discover that Saturday would be the last day of the SoWa Winter Market.
Despite its increasing popularity, I have never been to SoWa, a summer staple here in Beantown, especially in the last two years. I was looking forward to the final day of the Winter Market as a sneak preview of this summer's vendors.
We arrived at the Salvation Army on Washington Street around 1:30pm. It was super easy to park right on the street out front.
The doorway was marked with the SoWa sandwich board and three colorful balloons.
The market was set up on the second floor in the gymnasium and there were only a dozen vendors. It was way smaller than I was expecting.
The first table we visited was 9000 Things. Her display was a combination of jewelry and art work. Both my cousin and I really liked these leather cuffs. I especially loved that they were displayed in a cigar box. My dad is a major cigar aficionado and my sister gave all her bridesmaids gift packages in cigar boxes.
9000 Things won me over with their pieces of art work showcasing the Boston skyline. The pieces are made from laser cut wallpaper.

Across the gym I was drawn to the jewelry of R.H. Mardigan Enterprises.
Each pendant in this row features a character from "Alice in Wonderland."
I tried on two of these bracelets, one with a row of seashells and one with a tower of hot air balloons.
For the guys, there were several awesome leather wrapped flasks adorned with a range of symbols - skulls, octopus and more.
At the very next table I was eyeing the plush toys from Zooguu. With all the babies in my life, I always keep a look out for cute, new gift options.
Zooguu also had some adorable prints, like this one of Super Woman.
She had over two dozen flavors including fun ones like Boston Tea Party and Mojito.
I wound up buying three soaps. I selected the Coconut Cream, the Black Raspberry Cream and the Satsuma Guava. Never before have I so looked forward to washing my hands!
Though the last day of the SoWa Winter Market yielded a low number of vendors and very low foot traffic, it did make me excited to visit the outdoor SoWa Market when it kicks off the season in two weeks. Mark your calendar for Sunday, May 4th.
