Grey's Anatomy: Meredith Vs. Cristina

Tonight's episode of Grey's Anatomy was pretty uneventful. It felt like one giant set up for the next few episodes.

The hour started with Jo taking care of Alex's dad, played by Richard from Sex and the City! I will never be able to see him as any other character.

Speaking of sex, after she carefully planned her outfit to meet Catherine Avery, Stephanie winds up meeting her as Catherine walks in on her and Jackson in the on call room. Whoops.  I really loved that Stephanie stood up for herself at the end of the hour.

There were two major patient story lines tonight. First, a girl who calls herself "the donor baby." Her sister was born with a disease and her parents had her to save her sister every time she needed an organ, bone marrow or blood. How awful is that?

Across the hall, a patient was suffering from an enlarged penis after he was attacked by hornets. When his wife arrives to explain he likes the pain, you couldn't help but feel bad for her.

This biggest moment of the night came from an encounter between Meredith and Cristina (which was in last week's preview). Meredith yells at Cristina, "I understand that you believe you are God's gift to medicine, but I am every bit as talented and competent a surgeon as you are." Cristina fires back, "No you're not. I'm sorry, but you're not. And that's ok. You have different priorities now." She then went on to say after Bailey and Callie had kids they never let up. She even had the audacity to say, "Ellis Grey never let up." Ouch.

This commentary from Cristina is going to sting for a long time.

In previews for next week we see Owen and Emma are back on the scene together, Jo may be pregnant and Murphy is all over Arizona.

Are you with me? Do you think Meredith and Cristina are about to experience a major falling out?
