Though you may not know Big Night Entertainment Group by name, you surely know their Boston hot spots - Red Lantern, GEM and Empire. While the group is known for their exotic menus and party atmosphere, today they'll be know as something else - do gooders.
Today, Thursday, August 15th, Big Night Entertainment Group will be providing free meals to Boston taxi drivers. From 4:30pm - 6:30pm drivers can pull up to Empire in the Seaport and enjoy delicacies from Executive Chef Kevin Long.
When I asked why Big Night is doing this, a representative answered, "With the high prices of gas and credit card transaction fees, Boston's loyal taxi drivers are taking a major hit. We want to attempt to give them a break."
I love this. I think it's very unexpected and a great way to reward the drivers who shuttle us around the city. Whether you've just landed at the airport or you're trying to get home after the T has shut down, there is a Boston cab driver who has made your day easier.
