Dining Out: Cafe De Boston

So we're all back at work after a glorious July 4th weekend. Sigh.

Do you know what might cheer you up? How about swirl your own frozen yogurt in the Financial District?

Yes my friends, it's true. Cafe de Boston at 75 Federal Street has added frozen yogurt to the mix.

If you're unfamiliar, Cafe de Boston is located just beyond Post Office Square, right at the bus stop for the 501 (What's up, Brighton?).

The new frozen yogurt machines are right when you walk in.

Cafe de Boston is offering a plethora of toppings from candy to cereal to nuts to fresh fruit.

The day I visited they had four flavors: vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and mango. The mango is vegan for those looking for a non-dairy option.

The paper bowls are electric green and say, "Fill me up, never put me down."

I went with a mix of strawberry and chocolate yogurt, topped with rainbow sprinkles and M&M's.

I have to say, the yogurt was a little watery, causing it to melt almost immediately. If you plan to take your fro yo outside and eat it in the sun, eat quickly!

Cafe de Boston is actually open starting at 7:00am and they serve both breakfast and lunch. Look at these jumbo muffins!

Their most popular section is the meze bar. This buffet style set up offers a variety of Mediterranean specialties and the choices change regularly.

Though it's impossible to imagine eating soup in this oppressive humidity, when fall comes around, Cafe de Boston has five soup choices every day.

Also on the hot food front is the make your own pasta bar. There is an entire chalkboard menu devoted to the countless combinations.

You can also grab pizza by the slice. These slices are enormous. Just one could be your entire lunch.

On the back wall of the space is the sandwich bar which has the largest menu I have ever seen. Everyone standing in line was looking up in wonderment.

The next station over is the make your own salad bar. For $7.99 you can have unlimited toppings. Yes, please!

The station I was most excited about was the crepes. I don't know why, but I just can't resist them. Cafe de Boston has countless sweet and savory filling choices.

Though I already had fro yo, I had to try a crepe. We went with strawberries and Nutella and it was heavenly! It's really a shame I know about this. There go my summer fitness goals.

For those with a sweet tooth, there is an entire corner devoted to dessert.

The regulars recommend the baklava. That has never been my thing, but I am sure it's great here.

There's a lot of fast food and tourist traps in the Financial District and the surrounding streets, but Cafe de Boston truly has something for everyone. Even better, if you visit after 2:30pm everything from the meze bar is 30% off.

Have you been to Cafe de Boston? Have you hit up the frozen yogurt machine?
