Explore: Cinco De Mayo At Chipotle

Feliz Cinco de Mayo!

Is this the best holiday ever or what? An occasion that encourages day drinking, a constant flow of margaritas and zero judgement for ordering nachos and a quesadilla at the same time. Sign me up!

While there are several obvious places to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Boston - Rosa Mexicano, Papagayo, Catcus Club, Lolita - I've discovered another location where you can get your margarita on  . . . Chipotle.

Yes, the fast food chain not only makes killer burritos and rice bowls, but they also serve Patron margaritas! Over 900 Chipotle locations are serving these bad boys and each drink is made to order.

The Chipotle margarita is Patron Silver, triple sec, fresh lime juice, fresh lemon juice and organic agave nectar. Yum!

Mark Crumpacker, Chief Marketing Officer for Chipotle shared, "Many people are not aware, but we have served margaritas at Chipotle from the beginning. Previously however, they were made using a margarita mix and we didn't feel they were as delicious as they could be. Our new margarita recipe eliminates the mix in favor of a few simple ingredients. The new margarita tastes much better and is really a terrific addition to our menu."

Who knew?

Not only have I clued you in to the is amazing fact, but the nice people of Chipotle shared their margarita recipe with me so that I could help you mix up a few pitchers of your own at home too.

The Chipotle Margarita

Ingredients:
Ice
1.5 ounces of Patron Silver tequila
0.5 ounces of Cointreau
1 ounce of lime juice, freshly squeezed
0.5 ounces agave nectar
1 line (cut into wedges)
Kosher salt for rimming the glasses

Method:
Fill a rocks glass with ice and pour into shaker.
Add tequila, triple sec, lime juice and agave nectar.
Cover and shake vigorously for 3-5 second until foamy.
If using salt, place in a shallow dish. Wet the rim of the rocks glass with the lime wedge, then dip the rim into the salt.
Pour contents of shaker into the glass.
Garnish with a lime wedge and serve.
Ole!

I had the pleasure of sampling the margaritas at the Mansfield, MA location last weekend and let me tell you, they are good!

Have you tried the Chipotle margarita? What do you think?
