The Bachelor: The Most Dramatic Finale Ever

Could there be a more fitting title for this post? ABC always seems to think that each and every episode is the "most dramatic in Bachelor history."

Tonight we wait for three hours to see if Sean Lowe picks perky, make out queen Lindsay or goofy, Seattle born bombshell Catherine. We will also finally find out what is written in that damn note!

Catherine Meets Sean's Family

I love that Sean's niece and nephew made the trip to Thailand. They are undeniably cute.

Catherine is impressing Sean's dad, but the mama bird is a much tougher sell. When Sean's dad said to her, "If it's you that Sean ends up marrying, you will never have a bigger fan than me." Cue the water works!

Lindsay Meets Sean's Family

Poor, Lindsay. The whole Lowe family knows she stepped out of the limo in a wedding dress.

In her alone time with Sean's dad, Lindsay really nails his tough questions. I thought she might be too immature for Sean, but she had some great answers.

Sean's dad starts crying and tells Lindsay that since the day Sean was born, he and Sean's mother have been praying for his wife. He looks her in the eye and says, "If it's you, I couldn't be happier." Well, that kind of cheapens the nice things he said to Catherine, doesn't it?

Lindsay gets very weepy while she talks to Sean's mom. It seems like Lindsay and Sean have really talked about everything - even if they'd live together before they got married. Of course we didn't see that on camera.

When Sean and Lindsay kiss goodbye, I get the gut feeling that Lindsay is the one.

Lindsay's Final Date

In casual t-shirts and shorts, Sean and Lindsay float down the Mekong River. Post-float, they are sitting in a hut having champagne when Lindsay says, "I love you. I really really mean it." Rather than say "I love you too," Sean just smiles. Is there something in his contract that say he can't say it back? I mean, you do love the girl, just say it!

As they make out for the 10 millionth time, Lindsay says, "When Sean and I kiss, it's very reassuring because his kisses just tell me it all. That's why we're always kissing, I feel like that's how he can actually, really express himself right now to me." Ohhhhh, is that why?

Then they release three lanterns up into the night sky - family, happiness and love. I am going to feel so badly for her if she doesn't get picked.

Catherine's Final Date

In matching purple and blue hues, Sean and Catherine spend the start of their final date riding an elephant together.

When Sean and Catherine are snuggled up together after the ride, it's clear how different his relationship is with her as opposed to Lindsay. The vibe is polar opposite.

Catherine tries to open up to Sean, but she just seems cold and stiff. When it's time for them to say goodbye, Catherine holds on to him at the door. I mean, really holds on to him. In one last attempt to show him how she feels, she blurts out, "I love you." It felt a little desperate.

After she dropped the L bomb and he didn't say it back, you could see her start to panic. She follows Sean out the door, crying and totally freaks him out.

Proposal Day

Naturally we need some footage of Sean in his towel.

Once he's dressed, Neil Lane arrives. Sean picks one of the most blinged out rings for his future wife. Good man.

Lindsay and Catherine are having very different reactions to the suspense. Lindsay is assuming she's already won and Catherine is afraid she's done all of this for nothing and Sean is going to make a fool of her.

Lindsay's car pulls up to some extremely dramatic music. Her tattooed foot steps out of the car and we see her psychedelic silver dress which looks like it was painted on.

As soon as Sean says his heart is somewhere else, Lindsay lets goes of his hands. How she's keeping it together, I do not know.

When Sean tries to give her an explanation she begs, "Stop. No, stop. Just please. Stop." Then somehow, she composes herself and gives Sean a strong, confident speech and promptly decides to leave. I loved that she took her heels off before walking out as if to say, "Well, this charade is over."

The Note

At long last, the moment we've been waiting for! Chris hands Sean a note from Catherine. What does it say?

Though I think we all thought it was a break up note, it was actually a proposal note! ABC, you duped us again!

Catherine walks up looking like an Emmy statue and Sean dives right in. He says, "You never cease to amaze me. You never do. I think the world of you. I miss you. Every time we say goodbye, I miss you. I don't want to say goodbye anymore. Catherine, I want to spend the rest of my life telling you I love you and making you feel like the most special, beautiful woman in the world." I actually squealed when Sean dropped to one knee. I'm such a sap!

I think it's so cute that Catherine couldn't stop shaking. I loved when she looked at him and said, "Is this for real?"

Sean and Catherine ride off into the sunset on an elephant. Is this Aladdin?

After The Final Rose

Chris Harrison doesn't waste any time and invites Sean right out onto the stage. He physically lights up when he starts talking about Catherine.

Lindsay comes out wearing white, an homage to the wedding dress from the first night? I can't believe how composed Lindsay has been. Not a tear when she talks to Sean about the end of their relationship.

Next up, Chris invites Catherine out to the stage who looks stunning in navy. After gushing about why he loves her so much, Sean also admits he re-reads Catherine's note every day.

Chris plays the proposal scene for Sean and Catherine, who haven't seen it yet on TV. Sean starts crying!

Sean and Catherine then reveal they are going to get married on TV. Oh boy. Chris Harrison also reminds the couple that if they want to get married sooner, he is ordained. Ha! Of course he is.

To close out the night, Chris introduces the next Bachelorette, Desiree!

And just like that, another season comes to end.

So tell me, are you happy Sean ended up with Catherine? Will you watch Desiree's journey to find love?
