Grey's Anatomy: Grow A Pair

In all the years I have been writing about "Grey's Anatomy" I have always said the best episodes are either poignant (Bailey gives birth, George dies, any episode involving Denny) or hysterically funny (Dark and twisty, McSteamy, Cristina bartends). Tonight's episode would definitely fall in the hysterically funny category.

The main patient story involved a young man about to attend his 10th high school reunion, but he couldn't walk do to his incredibly enlarged scrotum. Ewwww. The story line served as a metaphor for just about every character who needed to grow a pair.

Starting with the chief. The chief and Catherine (Avery's mother) finally come out of hiding and admit they're a couple. Jackson tries to express his disapproval to the chief, to which Dr. Webber responds, "You don't want a piece of this. Not today." Ha!

Meanwhile, Kepner is trying to get brave enough to tell Jackson's mother that she's seeing him. Well, sleeping with him. How amazing is Debbie Allen in this role? Someone give this woman an Emmy!

This hour Meredith hides her once-in-a-lifetime surgery from Derek because she doesn't want him to get jealous. I thought his comment about being on a contact high was adorable. I love when Mer and Der are on good terms. Is it just me or did they all of a sudden start living in the new house? And, more Zola scenes please!

While Meredith and Derek are nesting, Callie and Arizona continue to grow apart. Callie is sleeping in Mark's apartment (sad) and Arizona continues to be nasty. Every episode this season Arizona has been ruthless. It's getting old.

Tonight we met a new character, Dr. Moore, who is Arizona's prosthetics doctor. I was shocked when he walked on screen. It's Ethan Embry from "Can't Hardly Wait." I honestly haven't seen him on screen since high school. Flashback!

In the scenes where Arizona is being fitted for her new leg, I couldn't help but wonder, how do they hide Jessica Capshaw's real leg?

Across the country, Cristina is now sleeping with her boss, Dr. Parker. She tells Meredith she finds him "a little reptilian," but she's dealing with it. Cristina also develops an unexpected bond with her fellow cardio surgeon, Mr. Feeny. Is it just me, or does Feeny look really old? I mean, deteriorating old.

Back in Seattle, Owen is starting to realize Cristina is never coming back. At least not for him. To deal with his pain he escapes to Derek's trailer in the woods. I think it's been a few seasons since we saw that place!

In previews for the next episode, Meredith tries to save a woman who is trapped under a car. It seems she's having flashbacks to losing Lexie and projecting all of that sadness and regret onto this patient. It should be an emotional hour. Sadly, we'll have to wait two weeks to see it!

What do you think of the season so far?
