Gossip Girl: It Girl

I spent last week in New York City for work so sadly I couldn't watch "Gossip Girl" last Monday. How ironic that I was gallivanting around the home of our Upper East Side crew, but I couldn't watch them!

I was planning a doubly devilish recap tonight, but the CW seems to be airing repeats. First 90210 and now this. Damn you, Hurricane Sandy!

No matter, below are my thoughts on last week's fashion show disaster.

Last week:

The episode opened with Blair and her minions frantically running about preparing for her fashion show. I could not get over Jean Pierre's French accent. So sexy.

Meanwhile Stephen and Serena are trying to discipline Sage. Stephen suggest to Serena that they take a break so he can focus on his bad girl daughter, but Serena says she'll talk to Sage and reason with her. While Serena and Sage are taking a walk around the block, Sage gives a serious helping of attitude. In fact, in the next scene Nate describes Sage as "High school Serena times ten."

Later on in the hour Sage tricks Serena into getting her a spot modeling in Blair's show. The show starts and the hats are dreadful (Hello, Mary Poppins), but it gets exponentially worse when Sage struts to the end of the runway, rips open her dress and parades around in just a black bra and see through underwear.

After the show, Serena and Blair are screaming at each other, placing blame, when Sage emerges to admit that it was her own idea. This girl is pure evil. Also, it is really starting to gross me out that Nate is having sex with a high school student. This type of relationship doesn't bother me when it's Aria and Ezra on "Pretty Little Liars," but here it's revolting.

Fashion show aside, Dan's first installment of his book debuts in "The Spectator" and is an immediate hit. Nate is riding high, celebrating the success when one of his advertisers comments that she's putting money into "Vanity Fair" to run her ads next to all of Dan's future columns. Burn!

Dan's story outs Rufus' relationship with Ivy (which is disgusting, by the way). Ivy tips off Gossip Girl that Rufus wants to sue Dan. That news makes it back to Rufus and he is less than thrilled. In that same conversation Rufus mentions that Jenny is in London. I love how they are teeing up the return of all the original characters.

Dan is already starting to let his new found fame go to his head. While sharing a drink with Nelly Yuki he is approached by a random girl who compliments his work and offers to buy him a drink. I can't wait to see what poor choices he makes as result of new found glory. Also, did anyone else get the vibe that Nelly has a crush on Dan?

I've saved the best for last - the love of my television life, Chuck Bass. I am still in complete denial that we only have a few episodes left together. I may need a life size cut out to survive the rest of my years without him every Monday.

Chuck arrives on screen sporting a gorgeous purple bow tie and a new hair cut (shaved on the sides). When Blair is on bed rest and unable to plan her fashion show he comforts her and says, "I know exactly what you need done and exactly how you like it." Swoon.

At the end of the episode he arrives at Blair's front door with a bottle of champagne and says, "The clothes were beautiful, you are beautiful and that is something we need to celebrate." Swoon again.

Chuck crawls into bed with a very tired Blair and shares that he is on the hunt for a woman named Lady Alexander who met with Bart in Dubai. Chuck suggests to Blair that they give up their "separate for now" plan and instead he says, "If we join forces and combine our power, we can achieve our goals." That sounded so Captain Planet!

My favorite moment of the entire episode is when Chuck and Blair are spooning in her bed and the camera pans out and you see the Chuck is on top of the covers, in his suit, shoes off and all of a sudden you notice his purple socks poking out of his gray suit. He's perfect.

In previews for next week we see that Stephen confronts Serena about her past relationship with Nate and Serena learns Stephen slept with Lily. This is getting a little inbred for my taste.
