Tonight Debbie Allen returned to Grey's Anatomy. Can I get a, "Hallelujah!"
I love her as Mama Avery. Did anyone else catch that her peon said they work together at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston? High five!
Watching Mama Avery hit on the chief brought a smile to my face. At the end of the episode when the chief had to walk away from her and he said, "I miss feeling like a man," my heart was breaking for him. Clearly he didn't go to the gala because he didn't trust himself to be alone with her knowing that she'd fill those voids. What a painfully sad situation.
Mama Avery brought with her a young doctor named Maura who wound up being Jackson's partner in crime. When they walked out together dressed for the ball, I think my television almost exploded from beauty overload. Wowzah.
This episode Meredith returns to neurology and she and Lexie remove a tumor from a patient who was only supposed to have a cyst drained. In that process the 27 year old patient winds up unable to speak properly. Just when we thought Mer and Der were on the mend - bubble baths, witty banter - they are fighting again! Can these two ever catch a break?
Speaking of not being able to catch a break, Morgan's premature baby continues to need constant care and has at least two surgeries this episode. Morgan has become attached to Karev and Meredith and Cristina tease him that Morgan is next in line for the position of Karev's crazy girlfriend. They do have a point.
This hour Cristina's patient is married to Uncle Phil from Fresh Prince of Bel Air! What a delightfully unexpected cameo!
Cristina and a nurse named Emily are trying to get him to sign papers to take his husband off life support. Cristina is convinced that Emily is sleeping with Owen and toward the end of the episode screams at her, "Can you stop screwing my husband!" Well, that was blunt.
In the final scene tonight Cristina waits up for Owen and then tries to talk to him about their relationship status. He says, "I love you so much it hurts." Cristina feels relieved by that admission but then he follows it up with, "No, I mean, it hurts to love you." Hmmm, that sounds less positive.
Then Owen says, "Cristina, I did cheat on you." Boom!
Now we are all left wondering - who did Owen cheat with? I'd love to hear thoughts and guesses!
