At this point it's safe to say I am a regular at All Star Sandwich Bar. When I lived in Inman Square I was there every weekend and ever since I moved to the other side of the river, I'll find any excuse to make my way there for lunch or dinner.
On my most recent trip, co-owner Kosta Diamantopoulos (who has become a great friend) came by my table to chat for a few minutes and before heading back behind the counter he said, "I have something for you," and passed me a folded piece of paper under the table. With nervous anticipation I unfolded the paper and lo and behold, it was the menu for All Star Pizza Bar! Kosta and his brother Johnny are opening a second restaurant across the street from All Star Sandwich Bar that will serve outrageous pizzas.
After reading through the menu (and maybe drooling a little) I asked, "Can I post this?" to which he replied, "I mean, finish your sandwich first." Ha!
So ladies and gentleman, without further a do, I bring you the specialty pizzas of the soon-to-be opened All Star Pizza Bar!
Atomic Meatloaf Pizza (All Star currently serves this as a sandwich)
Marinara sauce, house blend cheese, caramelized onions, All Star meatloaf, finished with Inner Beauty hot sauce
Buffalo Duck Confit
Marinara sauce, house blend cheese, duck confit tossed in All Star buffalo sauce with Maytag blue cheese and finished with pickled celery
Chile Relleno (I think this one sounds amazing!)
Rustic tomatillo salsa verde, house blend cheese, fire roasted poblano peppers, grilled chorizo sausage, sweet corn, cotija cheese, finished with cilantro
Dukes of Hazzard (This is such a dude pizza)
Creamy hominy ricotta grits, house blend cheese, maple breakfast sausage, soft baked eggs, finished with pickled Fresno chiles
Romesco Ratatouille
Almond romesco sauce, house blend cheese, roasted veggies, finished with grated parmesan and fresh herbs
Ms. Piggy's Fig (This name seems a bit naughty)
Vincotto sauce, house blend cheese, goat cheese, black mission figs, prosciutto di parma, finished with baby arugula and toasted pistachio gremolata
The Red Head (Potatoes! Steak! Bacon! Horseradish!)
Marinara sauce, house blend cheese, smashed herb roasted red bliss potatoes, shaved steak, applewood smoked bacon, caramelized onions, finished with horseradish cream

I told Kosta that I was pleasantly surprised by the fantastic vegetarian offerings and he admitted that his brother Johnny (the chef for both restaurants) hates vegetarians and didn't want to create any meat-free pies. I would be offended by this, but since Anthony Bourdain (my favorite celebrity chef) also hates vegetarians, I've come to realize this is a widely shared view.
In addition to the specialty pies, All Star Pizza Bar will also allow you to create your own pizza masterpiece from their list of toppings which includes:
- House made meatballs
- Fire roasted red and yellow peppers
- Charred broccoli rabe
- Roasted asparagus
- White Sicilian anchovies
- And much more!
