Grey's Anatomy: Romancey Things

Tonight's episode of Grey's Anatomy was equal parts wonderful and devastating. Let's start with the heart breakers.

This hour Owen tries to patch things up with Teddy and Teddy replies with one of the nastiest, most vicious rants I've maybe ever seen on this show. Not only did she say she actively hates Owen and she wishes he was dead instead of Henry, but she says, "I ask myself how all those good men in Iraq died, but you got out alive." Wow.

Also horrifying was the discovery of the intended marriage proposal between the young woman who screamed, "It's been eight years!" and her boyfriend who didn't make it out of the operating room. When Lexie was going through the patient's belongings after he died, I said out loud, "Please don't find a ring." Sure enough, he had put "Will you marry me?" inside the locket he planned to give her. Crushing.

This hour Lexie tries to tell Mark how she really feels, but shows up to find Jackson in his apartment. Simultaneously the chief tries to spend Valentine's Day with Adele, but she can't remember ever meeting him.

Before moving onto the positive news, let's address the neutral news - it seems like Owen and Cristina may be reconciling. When watching tonight I couldn't remember who introduced who to the room with the vent. Was it Cristina who first brought Owen there or the other way around? I don't necessarily root for these two. I still think Cristina was best with Dr. Burke.

Ok, now onto the fun, cute, positive story lines! How adorable was 10 year old Nico? That note he wrote to Clementine? I'm 27 and am still waiting for a note that nice from a boy.

It was fun this episode to see Meredith and Derek back to their old selves. When they are "on" their chemistry has always been undeniable.

For me, the best story line of the night was Bailey and Ben. Just as Bailey is about to give Ben the out and let him break up with her, he reveals a surprise he has been planning for weeks. A private, romantic dinner in the hospital with candles, roses, a private waiter and extra, crunchy topping on Dr. Bailey's mac and cheese, just the way she likes it. After all the sad story lines this hour, I was so happy tonight ended on this warm and fuzzy note!

Apparently next week's episode is a two hour event that involves a cross over with Private Practice. Kate Walsh annoys me so I am not looking forward to this.

Do you have an romancey things planned for Valentine's Day?
