Saturday afternoon, on the last day of our work conference, we took one of our clients out to a very late lunch. The conference ended around 4:00pm and we hadn't yet eaten! Over the course of the three day conference I had heard from many locals that the place to go near the convention center is called The Farm. I had absolutely no idea what type of food it was (I was guessing a steak house), but decided to check it out anyway.
The Farm is just one block from the L.A. Convention Center. You walked past the Staple Center and it's on the other side. The restaurant has a beautiful outdoor patio with a fire place.
We headed inside and I noticed immediately the barn style decor. I loved the warm yellows and browns.
On the right side of the restaurant there were two big, barn doors. Very rustic.
There were also stunning, dark beams across the ceiling.
We were seated and our energetic waitress brought us menus. I love the pig outline behind the text and the drink specials on the clipboard!
We ordered beverages right away and my coworker ordered a hot tea, which came in a press. Very fancy!
For lunch, I ordered the veggie burger with sweet potato fries. It said the veggie burger had avocado on it, so I was pretty much sold from that point on. I will say, I've had much better veggie burgers, but when you haven't eaten for eight hours, anything tastes good.
Next to me, my coworker ordered a half sandwich (the pear and brie on raisin bread) and the turkey chili. She absolutely loved both items and gobbled them right up.
She also ordered a side salad of mixed greens which she said had a delicious dressing. I thought the crostini with the cherry tomato was a lovely garnish.
Across from us, our client ordered the ahi tuna three ways. I noticed her eating two of the preparations, but not the third, which was the crepe. She said, "I have a feeling it's going to be the best, so I am saving it for last." She took one bite of the crepe and from her facial expression, we knew she was right.
There were so many things on the menu at The Farm that looked amazing. I would absolutely go back there and work my way through the menu.
I always feel weird taking photos in bathrooms, but I couldn't resist capturing the country chic of the ladies room. I love the big, basin sink and the distressed wooden bench.
The Farm is a great place for big groups and families. It's casual, but elegant and the food is fresh and delicious. It definitely beats the places next to the TD Garden here in Boston! If you find yourself at the L.A Convention Center, the Staple Center or the Nokia Theater, take the time to dine at The Farm.
