Dining Out: Le Sandwicherie

I've just returned from five days in Miami where I was visiting my family for the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashana and to celebrate my 27th birthday. On my first day in town my mother and I headed out for a low key lunch at one of her favorite spots, Le Sandwicherie.

Le Sandwicherie is located on 8th street, just a few blocks behind Brickell Ave in a strip mall. As we approached the store front I said to my mother, "This is where we are going?" To which she replied, "Don't judge it by its strip mall location. Many of the best places in Florida are tucked in between these cheap-o stores."

As soon as we set foot inside, I was already feeling better about the decision to dine there. The space is quite large and feels very open and airy.

You review the menu and then order at the counter. The menu have three categories: sandwiches, salads and smoothies.

As I was leaning up against the counter I fell in love with the brightly colored counter tops!

After placing our orders, I looked around and noticed all kinds of fun touches like magazines lining the walls and a large antique looking clock.

Our food was up quickly. I ordered the vegetarian sub which was loaded with fresh produce as well as jalapenos and pickles! My mother ordered the same sandwich but added roast beef. These sandwiches are enormous!

At the table next to us a group of guys were eating subs loaded with turkey, ham and cheese that we so thick I had no idea how they even fit them in their mouths to take a bite!

I had to tap out after eating the first half of my sub. I took the other half home. There was just no way.

We also decided to split a fruit smoothie called the Rainforest which was strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and bananas. No juice, no milk, no yogurt, just fresh fruit. It was delicious!

Le Sandwicherie is a great lunch spot during the work day because it's casual, speedy and delicious. They are open seven days a week. On Sunday - Wednesday they are open until 1:00am and Thursday - Saturday until 5:00am! Though I think most of us crave pizza late at night, these monster subs are a great alternative.

Order your own monster sandwich at Le Sandwicherie at 34 Southwest 8th Street.
