Dining Out: Lola's Tequila Bar & Cantina

I spent Saturday of Labor Day weekend in Providence, RI. After a stupendous day, our grand finale was dinner and drinks at Lola's Tequila Bar & Cantina on the waterfront.

Lola's reminds me of Rosa Mexicano which I have been to in both New York City and Miami. It's upscale Mexican with a fun twist.

Lola's has a beautiful patio with vibrantly colored picnic tables and cozy booths. We wound up in one of the booths in the back right corner of the patio. The water view was incredible. I was happy to just be sitting.

Our waitress arrived with menus and their drink menu is so fun! Their specialty cocktails all have fun names with sassy descriptions.

I decided on the "frosty" drink which was a frozen margarita that was half strawberry, half pina colada. It was outrageously delicious!

While we waited for our appetizer, our waitress brought over yellow corn tortilla chips and salsa. Shortly after, our appetizer of choice - guacamole - arrived. The guac was lackluster. Ever since the guacamole at Papagayo in South Boston, nothing has compared.

After our guacamole, we waited over forty minutes for our dinner to arrive. My friend was facing the kitchen door and watched plate after plate go to every other table before ours.

At last, the dinner arrived! My friend order the chicken fajita which came with an enormous portion of shredded chicken!

She ordered grilled corn on the cob on the side, which looked fantastic.

I ordered the veggie fajita, which was sadly only peppers and onions. The fajita at Sunset in Allston is the ultimate. I'm spoiled.

The fajita comes with flour tortillas, three house sauces, rice and black beans. The rice and beans were delicious and one of the house sauces was really spectacular.

I wouldn't return to Lola's for the food, but I would absolutely got back for a seat on that patio and for another "frosty" margarita!
