Gossip Girl: Otherwise Engaged

This week's episode of Gossip Girl reminded me of why I first fell in love with this show: incredible fashion, scheming socialites, deviant men in suits and text messages that change everything.

For the first ten minutes of the hour I couldn't stop lusting for Serena's outfit! That v-neck, eggplant colored dress was gorgeous and I loved the sparkle from that multi-stand necklace!

My heart was warmed this episode by Cyrus, Blair's unconditionally supportive stepfather. He won over the cold hearted princess and turned things around for our flailing royal hopeful, Blair.

How adorable is Louis? That accent kills me! When he told Blair he wants all of her I melted into a puddle. This is not helping to cure my prince/rescue fantasy.

Speaking of fantasies, I cannot believe the writers are going down the crazy, impersonating story line path again. How many times have we seen this on other shows? Charlie wanting to be like Serena is exactly like cousin Emily on 90210. Do the CW writers just swap story lines when they can't come up with anything better? Geesh.

On the flip side, there was one major, unexpected plot twist: Jack Bass came to town to actually help Chuck! Who would have ever guessed! It turns out Russell Thorpe is the villain here. Chuck agrees to let Russell go and they agree not to tell Reina. Too bad Nate tells Reina to defend his tardiness to the fundraiser. Here we go!

I have to single out one line of dialogue in tonight's episode that had me rolling on the floor with laughter. Jack says to Chuck, "Can we just call the cops? I'm hungry and all you seem to have is olives and hallucinogenic mushrooms." Ha!

In previews for next week, Russell Thorpe holds Blair hostage, Charlie tries to jump out the Constance window and Georgina returns!

This is going to be one hell of a season finale!
