90210: To Commence

In last night's episode of 90210, Max began his graduation speech by asking, "What is the meaning of the word commencement?" (How very Passover of you). He continued to answer his own question and say, "To commence means, to begin." Appropriate, since last night's episode was full of new beginnings.

Let's start with the wedding of Ivy and Raj. I knew Laurel would come around. There was no way she was skipping her daughter's wedding. Watching those scenes made me wish I could go to an Indian wedding! The traditional style of dress and the rituals are so beautiful and high spirited.

This episode Liam confessed that he doesn't want to go to college near Annie, in fact, he doesn't want to go to college at all. After a day apart, Annie realizes she has to "let him fly" and find himself on the deep sea fishing boat. Gag.

Speaking of nausea, did we really have to resort to a ghost story line, writers? As happy as I was to have Adriana's horrible truths revealed, did it have to come at the expense of a Javier ghost? This is crossing over into daytime soap opera territory.

Along the same lines, I cannot believe Naomi dropped the pregnancy bomb on Max! Do you think she really is pregnant or is this just a ploy to get Max to stay in California? Do you think Max and his parents will question if the baby is his?

I have to say, for an episode about high school graduation, there was very little graduation. Did anyone else notice they never showed the proud parents? At all. It will be interesting to see how the writers pick up these story lines when the show returns next season. Naomi pregnant? That would be enough drama for its own show.
