Rental Review: Love & Other Drugs

When I first saw the trailer for "Love & Other Drugs" I knew I would see it as soon as it hit theaters. I even blogged about how badly I wanted to see it. Somehow I didn't make it to the movie while it was on the big screen, but tonight I finally saw it!

"Love & Other Drugs" is mostly two hours of indisputable proof that Jake Gyllenhaal is one of the hottest men on the planet. Seriously.

I knew I would love the movie from the opening scene where Gyllenhaal's character, Jamie Randall, is rocking out to "Two Princes" by the Spin Doctors while trying to sell a stereo to two young, beautiful women in the electronics store where he works. Throughout the film, Jamie gets ahead in life purely on his disarming charm. That is until he meets, Maggie.

Anne Hathaway plays Maggie, the ball buster, alpha female who pushes Jamie out of his comfort zone. I have to say, I think this is Hathaway's best role yet (I don't count "Princess Diaries," as that has an untouchable place in my heart). Not only was she emotionally powerful, but she looked stunning in every scene.

The movie is the story of Jamie and Maggie's complicated love and how their arrival into each other's lives changes everything they thought they knew. Cliche? Yes. Likable anyway? Hell yes.

"Love & Other Drugs" was extra delicious thanks to its awesome soundtrack which includes "Fidelity" by Regina Spektor, "Praise You" by Fatboy Slim, "Heaven is a Place on Earth" by Belinda Carlisle and "Supernova" by Liz Phair.

If you haven't seen it already, rent "Love & Other Drugs" to enjoy Gyllenhaal and Hathaway's undeniable chemistry. The scene where Jamie tells Maggie he loves her will have you swooning for days.
