Dining Out: The Melting Pot (Part 3)

Tonight I went with a friend to the Melting Pot to celebrate the holiday season and exchange gifts! She had never been before and I was thrilled to accompany her on her first trip! This was my fourth visit and I am breaking a Pop.Bop.Shop. record by writing about the same place for a third time! You can check out my previous two posts here and here. What can I say, I just love it!

We arrived at 6:30pm and were seated right away. The hostess lead us to a roomy, leather booth in the bar area that looked out onto Charles Street (and all the men in suits walking home or heading out). After settling in we were greeted by a fantastic waitress. She was friendly, high energy and had a great sense of humor.

We placed our drink orders - the mango margarita and a glass of prosecco - which were delivered speedily and the prosseco came in a branded Melting Pot flute! Adorable.

After much debate, we decided to start with the Wisconsin Trio cheese fondue. I had tasted this flavor on my last trip and loved it. It includes: fontina, butterkäse and buttermilk bleu cheeses with white wine, scallions and a hint of sherry. Holy yum.

The cheese fondue came with cubes of bread, veggies and green apples for dipping.

After we licked the pot clean, we moved onto the salad course. I ordered the house salad which came with lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese, hard boiled egg, croutons and ranch dressing.

My dinner date ordered the Caesar salad which she said was the best restaurant Caesar she'd ever had! It was topped with something mysterious and crispy. It turned out the garnish was parmesan cheese dusted pine nuts! Genius.

After two courses we were still feeling good and certain we had room for dessert! We ordered the original chocolate fondue which is milk chocolate with a swirl of chunky peanutbutter.

The dessert fondue comes with a plate of cheesecake, brownies, pound cake, rice krispies, marshmallows, strawberries and bananas for dipping.

The reason I love fondue for dessert is that instead of ordering just the cheesecake or just the brownie like you would on a typical dessert menu, you get to feel like you're having seven different desserts!

After we'd finished everything on our dessert plate, our awesome waitress swung by and said, "Looks like you still have some chocolate in the pot, want me to bring you a few more treats to dip?" Excuse me? Did I just die and go to heaven? She did indeed bring us a plate of four more marshmallows! Jackpot.

The Melting Pot is a perfect place to celebrate a special occasion. It has that elegance you seek when toasting to a milestone, while also being fun, interactive and downright delicious! This particular location (Park Plaza Hotel) has tables for large groups as well as a private room.

The Melting Pot also frequently hosts special events and contests! Be sure to follow them on Facebook and on Twitter - @MPMARI. You can also learn how to make their fondues at home on their YouTube channel!

What are you waiting for? Get dipping!
