Dining Out: Legal C Bar

Tonight I met one of my absolute favorite people on the planet for dinner at Legacy Place in Dedham. We had decided last week to meet at the Yard House. I had been to the location in Merrick Park in Miami and was looking forward to trying this local outpost. In a disappointing turn of events, I arrived at the Yard House tonight to learn that it was closing for the evening due to a power outage! Normally I would be understanding about this, but as I represent an energy management company and I know that a plan B can be created in these situations, I felt angry.

The Yard House manager let us know that while most of the stores in the plaza were also closing for the night, Legal C Bar was going to stay open. Legal C Bar is part of the Legal Seafood chain of restaurants. I have been numerous times to the Legal Test Kitchen (LTK) in the Seaport district and I hoped this variation would live up to my LTK adoration.

Legal C Bar did not disappoint! The decor in the restaurant is stunning. The industrial, blond wood walls are mixed with golden orb light fixtures and silver, chrome tables and chairs.

We were seated in a cozy back corner and greeted by a young, handsome waiter who is the epitome of dreamy. He let us know the drink special tonight is called the John Daily and is basically a spiked Arnold Palmer. We ordered up two and they were brisk, tasty and refreshing on this 100 degree, humid, summer day.

To start we ordered the edamame (my favorite at LTK), the fried pickles and the clam chowder. The edamame was a super generous portion and salted to perfection. The fried pickles were a nice snack with a creamy dipping sauce (although the best fried pickles are at Union Street in Newton Center). The chowder, a Legal staple, was delicious and just the right size for a starter.

For dinner I had the chopped Greek salad and my dinner date had the iceberg wedge. Both salads were fresh, brightly colored and enough to feed two people! Rather than fill our stomachs with lettuce, we decided to tap out around half way.

When our dreamboat waiter asked if we'd like to have dessert, we said we'd take a peak at the menu. We decided on the pana cotta and the Belgian chocolate mousse. The pana cotta came served over a sea of berry sauce, with fresh berries on top. The chocolate mousse was rich and sublime. Too decadent to finish, but boy did we want to!

On our way out we stopped into the ladies room which had the most incredible, modern sink! It was at a gravity defying angle, with no sides to the sink itself. Odd, yet beautiful from a design perspective.

Legal C Bar was a fantastic experience start to finish and they rescued us when the Yard House shut its doors. If you find yourself famished after shopping at Legacy Place, definitely park yourself here for a revitalizing meal.
