This week my usual Bachelorette viewing buddy is out of town so I'm flying solo while watching episode 6. The previews at the close of last week show a suitor exiting the show after his true colors are revealed. Can you say: girlfriend back home? Ouch, Ali.
Below my rants and raves on this week's installment:
- Ali and the men arrive in Turkey. Shortly there after Chris Harrison arrives at Ali's hotel room door with a message from a past female contestant, Jessie.
- Jessie's phone is ringing and ringing and ringing. Poor planning producers! Shouldn't Jessie be waiting anxiously by the phone for this call?
- Rated R has a girlfriend at home in Toronto. SHOCKER! Not.
- So the producers decide to put Rated R's girlfriend on the phone. The girlfriend who didn't feel the need to say anything until episode 6. Mmm hmmm.
- Wait wait wait. So the girlfriend helped Rated R take his headshots, buy suits and NOW she is speaking up. Bogus. Get off my television.
- Chris Harrison reveals a photo of Rated R and the girlfriend on his iPhone. You know, he just got that right before he knocked on Ali's door.
- Ali exposes Rated R and what does he do? Grabs his overnight bag and walks out. He tries to walk away from Ali and through the hotel restaurant when the waiter waves him away. "Door locked for YOU!" He winds up climbing through a fountain to get as far from Ali as he can. Wow.
- Ali says "When you get caught in a lie, you need time to collect your thoughts and get your story straight. That's why Justin needed to get away from me. He needed to get his story straight." So true.
- Watching Rated R squirm is painful. Watching Ali rip into him - superb.
- As Rated R walks away the show plays voicemails he left for Jessica. I am cringing with embarrassment for everyone involved.
- Ty gets the one-on-one date via a card card that reads "Let's get steamy." Hm, Bachelorette signature hot tub?
- Ali has bandaids on the back of her ankles? Too many uncomfortable shoes, apparently. Bandaids = not sexy.
- After rubbing each other up and down at the Turkish bath, Ali and Ty shower, change and sit down to dinner. Ali dives in asking about Ty's divorce. Now we're talkin'!
- Ty gets the rose and he and Ali dance together in the street. Who really does that? Answer: no one.
- Group date time! Hottie overload. Chris L, Kirk, Roberto and Craig.
- Four oil covered Turkish men arrive with a band proceeding them. Apparently they are olive oil wrestlers. Of course!
- Chris L, "Usually what I do with olive oil is, I dip bread in it or cook asparagus on the grill with it. I don't wrestle in it." Ha!
- The suitors lose to the Turkish wrestlers. To win one-on-one time with Ali, they will wrestle each other. Craig says, "The problem is, the other guys here are all athletes. I'm not like that. I'm a lawyer. I fight with words generally. That's like, my job." Ha!
- Craig wins! Victory for non-athlete men everywhere!
- Ali and Craig take a boat to an island and share champagne and dessert in a private tower. Craig is being unbelievably sweet. I wish I could swap places with Ali!
- Fireworks! What a dream date!
- Still no kiss? He's behind.
- On their one-on-one date Ali and Frank explore the Bazaar (or as we call it in Israel, the Shuk). Frank says, "I could watch Ali shop all day." Um, Frank. Are you my dream man?
- Ali and Frank float together in the water of the Basilica. I think it feels like a tomb, hardly romantic. But they seem to be digging it.
- Franks gets a rose! Onto the final five.
- Ali tells Chris she doesn't want a cocktail party, she already knows who she wants to cut this week. I am predicting Craig. He just got a late start.
- And I was right! The remaining roses go to Roberto, Chris and Kirk.
- Ali asks Craig if she can walk him out. All Ali can manage to say is, "I think there just wasn't any romance between us."
- Craig gets misty in the limo ride. Awww.
- Next stop, Lisbon, Portugal! Jealous!
- Previews: Ali meets Frank and Roberto's families! Roberto packs for Tahiti. Frank arrives in Tahiti and says, "I am going to do something that is going to hurt." What? It seems he is going to break up with Ali! What a crazy preview!
