Top Chef: Winner Revealed!

Last night Top Chef crowned a new champion after the most fierce season of competition in the show's history. I have watched every season and this was the first time I felt each person in the final three deserved to win.

The chefs were tasked with creating a multi course meal for Tom, Padma, Gail and Toby, as well as some heavy hitters in the restaurant business.

The night before the competition there was a knock at the door and it was the boys' moms! How adorable! Not only would they serve as emotional support, but they would get to enjoy the first course with the judges.

Course one was a dish that reminds you of something your mom would make. The judge's seemed to like Kevin's crispy chicken skin with seasoned tomatoes and squash puree underneath. Bryan made something involving sardines and Michael made a prawn with broccoli cooked to taste like popcorn.

The second course was the mystery box. All the chefs received the same box of ingredients and had to cook using every item (very Iron Chef). The judges liked Kevin's broth best.

The third course was the chef's choice. Kevin made pork (his favorite food), Bryan made venison and Michael chose squab. I must admit, I have no idea what squab is. A game bird? The judges seemed most pleased by Michael and Bryan's main courses.

Finally the chefs were forced to make dessert for their final round (which most chefs LOATHE). Kevin put bacon on top of chocolate and bananas (ick), Bryan made a sheep's milk cheesecake and Michael attempted a caramel filled chocolate cake (which he overcooked).

The judges gave each remaining chef many compliments as well as criticisms at judge's table. When the judges banished the contestants so they could discuss, it seemed the final choice was really between Michael and Bryan.

In the end, despite Kevin's great flavor profiles, and Bryan's precise execution, Michael took home the title with his creativity! Upon hearing his name announced as the winner, Michael was silent and then all of a sudden started crying! Little bro beats big bro for the title of Top Chef. We know who will be doing all the bragging at Christmas!

Thank you, Bravo, for a spectacular season! This was by far one of the most fun casts to watch and their talent was absolutely insane. The dueling brothers were genius and a blast to watch compete each week.
