Gossip Girl: Cameos and Romeos

Last night on Gossip Girl our usual Upper East Side crew was joined by a peppering of real life celebs (albeit, B list). Let's begin with the two second cameo from fashion designer and ex Lance Armstrong flame, Tory Burch. LOVE her logo, bags and shoes, but she was useless in this scene. In fact, I think she had one line. Maybe one and a half. As Carrie Bradshaw says, sometimes a girl just needs a half.

Despite the lackluster Tory appearance, Serena's interview outfit was magnificent. The fitted top and skirt (or is it a dress?), the gray jacket and the deep red, multi-strand necklace - YES PLEASE!

The always fabulous Tyra Banks also dropped by to play a struggling Hollywood starlet. Although her acting chops leave something to be desired, her relationship with Serena was quite cute.

And lastly, look who has joined the crew at NYU, Hilary Duff. I must say, I fall under the "Dear god she's annoying" category when it comes to H. Duff. I appreciated her song that became the theme to Laguna Beach, but that's pretty much where it ends. I like that Dan has a new love interest, but I would have preferred someone less. . . vanilla. I guess I should be thankful Miley Cyrus hasn't found her way to the Upper East Side. I shudder at the thought.

While Hilary Duff makes a cameo (or if she's lucky a recurring guest spot), Dan isn't the only one playing Romeo. Chuck steps up his game to help Blair get over her social alienation at NYU. I was worried the writers would break up Chuck and Blair right away, but surprisingly they are keeping the couple together and throwing in fun, sexy and seductive surprises. Thank you for rewarding our two seasons of patience with an entertaining relationship!

This episode also marked the return of Lily, Eric, and Jenny. Oh you know, just half of the principal family was missing for the entire start of the season. Lily's "welcome home" outfit was fierce, Eric is sporting a new, dark hair do, and apparently Jenny is the only girl at Constance who doesn't have to wear a uniform.

Nate also returned this episode, back in an old role - Dan's wingman. Odd to see them back together again. Apparently Bree is out of town. I hope it has something to do with the dirt she has on Carter!

The best part of this week's episode was the previews for next week! Lily and Rufus are getting married and Georgina plans to black mail the gang so that Scott reveals his true identity at the wedding! Oh yes! I can feel the drama in the air!
