Best Dressed: Emmy Awards 2009

Last night the stars walked the red carpet for the 2009 Emmy awards honoring the best in prime time television. But let's face it, we only really care about the clothes. The stars that earned my fashion admiration:

1) Mariska Hargitay - A perfectly fitted, feminine, silver dress by Carolina Herrera, accented with a gorgeous necklace and soft, wavy hair. Although it definitely looks like she's had some work done, the outfit is a home run.

2) Heidi Klum - Even while pregnant the Victoria's Secret model and Project Runway host still stuns in this black Marchesa.

3) Tina Fey - For a woman who doesn't love dressing up, Tina hit the jackpot with this black, Gucci dress. Classy in the front, sexy surprise in the back!

4) Amy Poehler - The ladies of SNL killed it! This woman had a baby not even a year ago and she looks amazing in this Reem Acra gown.

5) Sandra Oh - As golden and beautiful as the Emmy herself. Bravo, Dr. Yang.

6) Christina Applegate - For what feels like the 10th awards show in a row, Christina picks the absolute perfect dress. This time a dress by Basil Soda. Samantha Who? may be cancelled, but this star keeps right on shining.

7) Alyson Hannigan - The star of one of my favorite shows "How I Met Your Mother" looks radiant in this simple, black, Vera Wang number. Who would know she has a newborn?

8) John Krasinski - The only man to make my list and a fellow native of Newton, MA, John looked handsome, classic and glowed any time someone asked about his recent engagement to actress Emily Blunt. Love is the best accessory.

And I cannot discuss last night's Emmy fashions without addressing the most bizarre outfit/hair combination, sported by one Blake Lively. Blake is young, beautiful and on a hit show, but she definitely missed the mark in this red Versace. Too much skin, a crazy cut out in the back, and wore long hair extension only to have them teased and tossed into a reckless braid. We'll file this under "What were you thinking?"

The true awards season doesn't begin until January 2010, but this sure was a delicious treat while we wait!

Who were your favorites?
