Just Discovered: Samantha Who?

After seeing Christina Applegate this award season, killing it every time in one beautiful gown after another, I thought to myself - Perhaps I should check out this TV show she is starring in, that is receiving all these nominations . . . Hm.

So off I went, adding her show "Samantha Who?" to my Netflix queue. Season one had two discs, a total of 15 episodes. I watched the whole season in three days. I was so in love with the show and its characters!

Christina plays the lead character, Samantha, who has been hit by a car and has amnesia. She has no memory of the people in life, her job, her likes and dislikes. It turns out, prior to her accident she was living with her boyfriend, but cheating on him with a bevy of men, she hadn't spoken to her parents in two years, her assistant shook in her presence and her best friend was a back stabbing slut.

Now, in her new found innocence, she wants to say goodbye to "bad" Sam, and embrace a new way of life.

Despite the show stealing its entire premise from the movie "13 Going On 30", it does have several unique elements bringing viewers back week after week:

1) Jean Smart as Samantha's mother Regina. Sassy, quick witted and eager to set her daughter up, she steals every scene she appears in.
2) Barry Watson as Samantha's ex boyfriend. Best known for his role as eldest sibling Matt Camden on 7th Heaven, Barry has matured in a sexy, scruffy piece of man candy.

3) Melissa McCarthy as Samantha's childhood friend Dena. Melissa was best known as Sookie on Gilmore Girls and brings that same endearing, zany sidekick vibe to this show.
4) THE FASHION! Samantha's wardrobe on the show is incredible. Each episode she wears about five pieces that have me screaming - I have to have that!!

Samantha Who? airs Thursdays at 8:30pm on ABC.
