Excuse Me, Could You Take This Knife Out Of My Back?

Hello faithful readers! I want to apologize to you for only now writing a recap of an episode that first aired 5 days ago! GASP! Please forgive my tardiness, and enjoy the rant.

This week on The City Olivia and Whitney are asked to pull looks for Jessica Alba's ELLE Magazine cover shoot. Whitney has a look of disgust on her face when the boss asks Olivia to spear head the "pull".

The two girls head down to the wardrobe room and look through the DVF Spring runway looks. They have almost completed the task when Whit suggests adding one more look to the rack, a sequined jacket and shorts that Whitney explains "really represents the line". Olivia hates the outfit and tries to talk her out of it. In the end they wind up keeping the outfit in the mix, although Olivia seems to feel she is compromising her professional integrity by allowing that outfit to be part of HER "pull".

That night Whitney and Jay have dinner and Whitney asks Jay when he plans to start looking for an apartment. She says she doesn't think they are ready to live together and doesn't want it to become a situation of convenience, where they wind up permanently living together because Adam forced Jay out of their place. Not gonna lie, you could cut the tension with a knife.

The next day at DVF, Whit and Olivia's boss reveals the ELLE cover and VOILA! There is Jessica Alba wearing the outfit Whitney picked. Whit can't help but grin ear to ear, and when the boss asks who pulled the look, Olivia quickly replies "I picked the jacket and she (meaning Whitney) picked the shorts."

OH NO SHE DIDN'T!!!!!!!!!! I am pretty sure girls across America were screaming at their TVs. Leave it to Olivia to hassle Whitney then take all the credit. Olivia was very pleased with herself, while Whitney was shooting her one of the best death looks I've seen in a long time.

That night Whitney has dinner with the girls and tells them all about Olivia stealing her thunder. They are not at all surprised and give Whit just the sympathy she needs. Someone asks about how she and Jay are doing and Whit makes a shocking confession: things aren't going well, intimately, and the passion is gone. Yes my dear Whit, its too early in the relationship to already be having this problem. As if dealing with Olivia isn't enough, now your boyfriend's being lame too?

Meanwhile, Jay goes out the same night to a club and bumps into Dani. Again. I am sorry, but this is no longer a coincidence. First she was magically in the same club in Miami, and now out of all the clubs in NYC, she manages to choose the same one as Jay? I'm not buying it.

The way the show is edited, it leads you to believe Jay and Dani leave the bar together and do god knows what.

Later in the week, back at work, DVF has a luncheon to celebrate the ELLE Magazine cover. DVF herself is there and, GASP, JESSICA ALBA! The entire party Olivia is going on and on about how she knew that was the perfect outfit, she knew the photographer would like it, she knew Jessica would like it, she loves styling, blah blah blah. You can visibly see Whitney's head getting closer and closer to exploding. At one point she put her face into her hands, as if to scream into them "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?".

In the final scene of the episode Whitney meets up with Allie at Amy's Bread (hello, red velvet cake. Come to Mama!). The ladies are chatting and Allie shares that Adam told her Jay and Dani were hanging out again at the club. Whitney looks as if her heart has sank. She can't even come up with words to respond. She just stares out the window. She winds up putting it together that during their most recent dinner date Jay was so tired he was barely able to keep his head up (and I wanted to punch him) and its because he was out late with Dani.

The best part of this entire episode was the previews for next week!!!! Apparently Jay is going away for a while on tour with his band, and didn't feel the need to tell Whitney until 5 days before he is supposed to leave. Since he has known for weeks, she is PISSED. Then it seems the two have a conversation about their relationship and Jay says "I just need to be by myself right now." Now, normally I would be devastated and be feeling bad for Whit already, but since I recently saw photos of her and Jay out in L.A. for her birthday this week, I know they work it out. But, doesn't mean we can't enjoy watching the rocky ride to reconciliation!
