Secrets, Secrets Are No Fun

It was a very busy week at Seattle Grace, as Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice begin two weeks of cross over episodes for February sweeps. Sweeps always bring out the emotionally charged side of Grey's. Remember the bomb episodes?

This week Dr. Bailey approaches the Chief to say that after what happened with Jackson, she doesn't want any more pediatric patients, she just can't handle it. The Chief talks her off the ledge, and lets her know he is recommending her for his open Attending position, as soon as she completes her residency. Way to go, Bailey!

Bailey's newest patient is a nine year old girl with heart and lung problems. Bailey is assigned to the case with Dr. Dixon, who has Asberger's syndrome. Dr. Dixon winds up having a panic attack that requires Bailey and Christina to have to tightly hug her to calm her nervous system. Since Bailey and Christina are the two most unlikely candidates to show affection, this scene had me laughing out loud.

Bailey saves the day again with her young patient, and Dr. Robbins gives a great pep talk about how Bailey should consider a specialty in pediatrics. I foresee many more story lines involving sick children. I will stock up on tissues now.

Izzie is running the clinic this week, and in an attempt to find out what's wrong with her, she has the interns practice all their tests on her first, before the patient. Izzie and Sadie learn one of their patients has cancer. Anyone think Sadie switches the charts, and Izzie has cancer? Because I do!

In the halls of the hospital Dr. Hunt and Christina are making googly eyes at each other. Each time they see each other, classical music begins to play in the background. In one scene, Dr. Hunt barely grazes Christina's hand, it looks like her heart stops. In another scene, he tells her he likes when she wears her hair up, because she has a beautiful neck. She spends the rest of the day lifting up her hair in front of him. HA!

At the end of the episode Dr. Hunt sees a blond woman who he apparently knows and he goes into shock, causing his entire body to convulse. Using what she learned earlier in the day with Dr. Dixon, Christina takes him into a room, and hugs him until he stops shaking. The next time we see them, Dr. Hunt is passed out on top of Christina, in a bed in the on call room. While he sleeps, Christina reads Meredith's mother's journal. She is previewing it for sexual content, so Meredith doesn't have to read about her mother and the chief getting it on.

Meredith spends the episode wondering why Derek is acting so strangely towards her. Little does she know, he plans to propose to her! He has the whole evening planned, Sloan comes over to help him lay out roses and candles, and then Addison calls. Something is wrong with her brother and she needs Derek's help. When Meredith arrives home at the end of the day, Derek is gone, and so are the roses and the candles. Except for one rose petal Meredith finds under her pillow. Awww.

Back at the hospital Lexi is trying as hard she can not to tell anyone she is seeing Sloan. She can only talk to Callie, who doesn't want to hear about it. At the end of the episode Lexi tells Sloan if he can't bare to tell people they are together, or if he is ashamed, or just wants to be "secret friends" then she's out. Way to go, Lexi!

Back at Joe's bar, Callie is drowning her sorrows in liquor. She escapes to bathroom to collect herself, and Arizona comes in to comfort her. She assures Callie that when she is ready to date again, people will be lining up to be with her. Callie asks, "Oh yeah, like who?". Rather than answer the question, Arizona leans in and kisses her!! WHAT? Callie is full blown lesbian now? The doctor who rides around on wheeley sneakers has the hots for Callie? Bravo, Shonda Rimes, this story line BLEW MY MIND!

This episode George made one brief cameo (they are SO writing him out of the show) and there was a funny side story line about an older couple trying new sexual positions now that they have an empty nest. There was also a guest appearance by one of my favorite actresses, the star of Kissing Jessica Stein, Jennifer Westfeldt (also real life girl friend of Mad Men star John Hamm). No sign of Denny this week (a relief!) so hopefully his time on the show is wrapping up. They really muddied up that story.

Fingers crossed for a Der/Mer engagement Valentines week!
